The New Science Centre

One of Vaun's very generous clients gave us a family membership to the New Telus Spark Science Centre. This was a rare Saturday when we had nothing planned so we decide to go check it out.
We arrived shortly after opening to avoid a crowd for later in the day. We got our new membership cards and headed for the first exhibit Energy and Innovation. Quite a very of the interactive displays in this area were under repair but there was still lots to see and do. Some of the experiments were amazing and others were disappointing. Teagan's favourite experiment was bringing electricity to the houses. She was a real problem solver and thought outside the box to get the electricity to the houses. Vaun had fun creating hydro power. The science centre has really changed there approach to that which we teach in school, which is explore and discover. The teacher has become the guide on the side when it comes to math and science and this really shows that shift in teaching and learning.
There was lots to see. The Creative Kids Museum has been outgrown by Teagan and is really a place for the under five crowd. Earth and Sky was the most interesting to me with lots of hands on experiments. More to see on another day as we will make use of our membership.
